OUR COACHES
Although each athlete within the FITTER squad works closely with Bevan, Tim or Krystle as their primary coach, our coaches work in collaboration to closely track and review the training and development of all our FITTER athletes.
BEVAN MCKINNON is an IRONMAN University Certified Coach, Triathlon NZ Level 3 Accredited Coach, Bike NZ Coach and a qualified NETFIT Strength and Conditioning Coach.
He has coached Pro Triathletes to multiple IRONMAN and 70.3 wins and been instrumental in helping a large number of AG Triathletes achieve their dream of qualifying for Kona.
Bevan works closely with IRONMAN Oceania and their ‘Women for Tri’ Program and WILD.AI in delivering female specific training and nutrition advice.
As an elite level triathlete Bevan has won the Age Group World Championships in Kona, ITU Long Course and the 70.3 distance.
TIM BRAZIER, based in Wanaka New Zealand, has an impressive resume within the Triathlon and Multisport world having coached professional and age group athletes to National and International success in Olympic Triathlon, Iron-Distance Triathlon, Xterra Triathlon, Multisport and Mountain Biking.
As well as being an IRONMAN University Certified Coach Tim brings an impressive mix of credentials and experience to the FITTER brand:

KRYSTLE HOCKLEY, Assistant Coach, is based in Newcastle, Australia and is a 2 x Top 10 AG IRONMAN World Championship finisher and recently turned Professional Triathlete. She has a strong passion for triathlon and knows what it takes to grow and develop in the sport in order to reach your full potential.
Having been a member of the FITTER coached athlete squad for a number of years Krystle is well versed in FITTER's coaching practices and methodologies. As well as achieving accreditation with Triathlon Australia Krystle is also a qualified Nutrition coach, a Training Peaks accredited coach and a Level IV qualified strength and conditioning coach. Krystle is also currently working towards her accreditation as an IRONMAN U Coach.
As an Assistant Coach Krystle will be supporting Tim and Bevan whilst also offering coaching services to developing athletes.
DR CLAIRE BADENHORST PhD is a lecturer at Massey University, Auckland coordinating the BSc (Sport and Exercise) program and teaching Sport Nutrition, Exercise Physiology and Functional Anatomy. Claire completed her BSc in Perth at the University of Western Australia before completing her Honours in 2012 and being offered a scholarship to complete her PhD from 2013-2017. Her PhD addressed iron status and metabolism in endurance athletes, with a specific focus on dietary changes and hormonal effects on iron metabolism.
During her PhD Claire started competing in triathlons. She has recently qualified for Kona after winning her age group (30-34) at IRONMAN New Zealand.
Claire is working with FITTER coaches to offer sports science and physiology expertise to all our athletes within the FITTER team.
